10 July 2015 - Orlestone Forest, Kent

A stunning result last night after trying (and failing) to locate Feathered Beauty in Orlestone Forest. A Latin was found just outside the trap before 11pm - seemingly the second Kent record and the first possibly since 1962. Poor mobile phone signal in the area preventing us getting other moffers to the sie, but we did manage to wake a few travelling Feathered Beauty seekers to show our success.

The moth will be released back in the forest on Monday night (TBC) - text 07799 690911 if you want to join the release.

The support cast for the Latin was good - Olive Crescent (2), Ruddy Carpet (2) and Scarce Merveille du Jour (1) made for a pleasant couple of hours...

Cheers Tony - and if only I had been able to get a picture half as decent as the Portland one featured on the UKMoths website... A Small Marbled for me one day - fingers crossed. Ross
