28 Aug 2014 - Findhorn Valley, Moray

Took a trip north to the Findhorn valley in the hope of Portland Moth and reports of thousands of moths swarming around the traps within seconds of the lights coming on (OK, a slight exaggeration - but it had sounded good!).

In theory the cloud should have been overhead by 11pm - but by 1am it still hadn't arrived and the stars were shining brightly. The total catch was probably 100 or so moths - not great for 4 traps in August, but at least the quality was there - two Portland Moths being the highlight.

Portland Moth
Portland Moths (the smaller one was potted before being ID'd, making it a pleasant surprise when checking the pots for photography!)
Anomalous - my second in two days. Easy Really...

Plain Clay looks like Brown-spot Pinion?
