28 Aug 2014 - Findhorn Valley, Moray

Took a trip north to the Findhorn valley in the hope of Portland Moth and reports of thousands of moths swarming around the traps within seconds of the lights coming on (OK, a slight exaggeration - but it had sounded good!).

In theory the cloud should have been overhead by 11pm - but by 1am it still hadn't arrived and the stars were shining brightly. The total catch was probably 100 or so moths - not great for 4 traps in August, but at least the quality was there - two Portland Moths being the highlight.

25 Aug 2014 - Loch of the Lowes

Undertook some moff surveying at the SWT's Loch of the Lowes reserve.

Always an interesting location to trap, the best of the bunch were the Thorns - 2x August and 2x Canary-shouldered.

21/22 Aug 2014 - Struan, Perthshire

Popped up to Struan for some chilly moffin. The July highflyers are great - but then after temps on 22nd got down to 3.5oC (and it was only 11pm) I packed up!

Highlight of the catch on the 22nd was a harvestman!
