7 January 2009 - East Malling
Went round the labs at the research station at lunchtime - just to try and grip Adam on his patch..! Hundreds of winter thrushes everywhere including a high percentage of Redwings - there must be thousands on site.
Had my first attempt at digiscoping - a nice male Fieldfare
Hi Guys, The thrush flock here at East malling is superb - With so much fruit on the floor it's a huge magnet when the frosts are with us. I haven't been ringing yet this winter, but would love to get my hands on a few more Fieldfare and Redwing. It would be nice to be seeing Firecrests like some of you guys are getting (am most envious) but our thrushes keep us going during these months. As for camera gear - the good lady got me a release cable and mounts for my coolpix 4500 which I've been using for travel photography for years. It's a start! Ross

Yep, you must have all the winter thrushes over there, there isn't any on my patch!
Nice picture of a Fieldfare, especially for a 1st attempt. What equipment are you using?
